Important information about shipping by
Express Mail Service (EMS) or by
First Class Post:
1) The post office does not offer insurance for any EMS shipments,
or for first-class post to some countries such as Nigeria.
In these cases, Ferimex buys
insurance for your order from a separate company (Union) for 3% of the order value. The insurance is valid only
for the portion of the trip from Ferimex to the first
arrival in your country. If the package is lost
or damaged after arrival in your country,
there is no insurance
coverage for that part of the trip. In that case,
Ferimex will not be able to replace the damaged
or missing products, because Ferimex will not get
any insurance money from Union. The risk for damage or loss
inside your country is yours.
2) Ferimex has shipped by EMS more than 50 times and by First Class Post
more than 100 times. A package
has been lost only two times. But when a package is lost,
the post office will take up to 30 days after an official
complaint is issued, to report about the status of the package.
And after these 30 days, if the post office has not found the
package, they legally have the right to extend the search for
30 more days!
So it is possible that it will take 60 days before Ferimex can apply
to get the insurance money from Union. When we have the insurance
money, we can ship to you again at no
cost to you. Ferimex cannot reship at an earlier date,
unless you wish to pay for the order again, and receive the
insurance money refund from Ferimex at a later date.
These problems, which occur very rarely, can be avoided by
choosing shipping by UPS or Cargo Partner. But they are MUCH more expensive
than post or EMS, as much as 3 or 4 times the cost!
